My breeding program consists of a small quantity of dogs, (less than 10), some of which reside with me, and others that live with friends, other breeders, and families who spoil their dog but allow them to be part of my breeding future. The majority of my dogs have started from my foundation girl Reece. My breeding program focuses on incorporating dogs who are 1) appropriately health tested, 2) have a history of longevity and health testing (either by parents and grandparents). Having championships and titles, is not an indication of health, it can be a subjective achievement and based on politics, grooming and training. We strive to health test all breeding dogs (multiple tests, multiple times throughout their life) as an aim to reduce the risk of producing inheritable disorders. Unlike other breeders, we breed limitedly to hopefully retain a puppy for our next generation and sometimes have some available to family homes. Our breeding is focused on the health, longevity, promotion and preservation of this breed. Breeding dogs is not a source of income for us, (we have jobs) nor is it to meet the demand for puppy requests.

Some of our Breeding Values:
1) We only breed purebred, health tested shetland sheepdogs. Purebred health, longevity, and health testing can be traced by pedigree, breeder etc. This is how we can aim to improve and/or eliminate negative traits in the breed.
2) All puppies or adults sold by us have a mandatory return policy if they must be rehomed. We are understanding that changes in personal or family health, finances, employment, or living situations may arise that jeopardize the care / well being of a dog that is sold by us. If every breeder was as diligent, rescues and shelters would not exist. This is our dedication to the dogs we decided to bring into the world, and we will care for them for life if need be.
3) We focus on low Coefficients of inbreeding. Scientific literature indicates greater heterogeneity of alleles with decreased inbreeding.
4) Vaccination protocols by Dr. Dodds DVM are the guidelines we follow (FIND Her ONLINE). Vaccinations that provide therapeutic protection are ideal for shelties. Yearly vaccinations have been shown to not be necessary with titre testing.
5) Holistic rearing and veterinary intervention (Recommendations by Dr. Karen Becker DVM - Find her online). We do not promote flea or tick, topical or oral ingested prevention options. The FDA has indicated that these treatments can cause neurotoxic effects. We now know of 2 breeders whos dogs have had seizure from these treatments. There are other options for deterring pests. We also encourage the supplementation of fresh, whole foods in moderation, depending on how your dog reacts to it.
Puppies:
1) We go through great lengths to bring these beauties into the world, so our contract indicates that all puppies must be neutered/spayed at an appropriate age. We do not want our dogs to end up in puppy farm situations.
2) No puppy is sold until 8 weeks of age. Puppies interact with their mother and others and learn manners and socialization up to this age.
3) All puppies go home on ckc non breeding agreements, microchipped, first shots, and vet exam.
